: : Tal, and greetings all....... : Let Me say right from the start that this type of situation is always a * no win * kind of thing...... : I will try to cover all the points of this matter one by one, give My personal ideas of how it should be brought to a closer..... or dealt with...... and then try to explain the GS Councils stand or position..... BUT understand, this is only My opinion, because I am only one captain and while I may speak for the Council, any OFFICIAL ruling must come from the full council........ : On what seems to be the first point, Marius made a comment about what the slave kha said about another Master ..... While that is completely within his rights as a Free Person, especially something that We should ALL remember is that anything we say to another person, Free or slave .... If said in the open becomes public knowledge.... If ANY person wishes to insult or disparage another, they have to be willing to be held accountable for it........ : I have NOT seen a C+P of just what kha said back to Marius...... so I can’t make a judgement about it..... two things I can say about any response she may have made ... First, she is kajira, and as such should remember her place and station whenever speaking to a Master....... Second, although she is kajira, it should also be remembered that ANY person, Free or slave will attempt to defend those close to them..... If Marius did say something disparaging about Long Knife then it would be expected that the girl may well try to explain his actions to try and make things more clear ..... : Next, as I get the story, DaemonStorm came and questioned Marius’s reason for making such comments about LongKnife...... Once again, DaemonStorm would be well within His rights to do so..... not only to defend the girl kha from Marius, if He thought that it may be necessary ...... but also, to defend the honor of His Brother, and Jarl..... : What seems to have ensued next is the standard “ I said this, You said that “ kind of verbal confrontation...... Again, I have not been shown a C+P of what was said, so I can’t make any detailed judgement on the argument... : Once Marius put His hand to sword , the reason for the confrontation becomes moot... As men, and Goreans, it became a point of honor..... Had Marius chose to remove His hand, and talk things out, things well might have not gotten out of hand...... By drawing his sword, He challenged DaemonStorm ...... And neither man could withdraw without a unilateral decision to drop the matter.......Honor would and will not allow it...... Where as common sense could and would......... : If a quiva ( quiver ) was thrown, that alone constitutes an attack..... and could not be overlooked under these conditions....... : At this point I will speak about what has happened so far...... Marius, in His own home, made what he says was just an observation and comment about the treatment of slaves in general........ The girl, kha..... and once there DaemonStorm, say that it was more an insult aimed at Jarl LongKnife..... As I have said, I have not seen a C+P, so I can’t say either way..... So to this point in the matter who is right, and who is wrong ???????? Neither..... Both...... All...... None....... : Once the argument became heated, and Marius deemed it necessary to put His hand on His sword, and then draw it, it transcended the realm of discussion, and became one of possible physical confrontation...... and once He threw the quiva...( it matters little if DaemonStorm chose to acknowledge it or not ) there was little chance of coming to peaceful end to this affair..... : So....... Where are We left ????? Marius says that He will fight nowhere but GS ..... Daemon says that He will not fight in GS .... Daemon said that His schedule required 7 hrs before He could be back to fight... Marius said that was not okay with Him ...... Daemon has the challenged so by GS rules He may choose the weapon(s) used, but Marius must agree.... But unless BOTH men can agree on the when, and where such a fight is to be held, it becomes as before, a moot point...... : If both of the men in question require this matter to be taken to a fight, it will take either some give and take on the part of both to make it happen.... If not there is little that can be done......... : The only other point I would like to make is that this matter is between Marius, and DaemonStorm....... There has been no insult or threat to GS as such..... If these two men can’t find a way to settle this, it will be on their own heads to find a venue for a fight...... It seems a shame that this fight would be to the death, for the loss of EITHER man from Gor would be a sad thing...... : One more thing I will say ....... This problem is between Marius, and DaemonStorm and kha...... At this point in time BOTH DaemonStorm, and the kajira kha, are welcome in GS....... It is between these two Warriors as to what actions they take against each other if in the same room.... But the girl, kha, is a collared slave......... and as such, by GS protocol, is protected like any other slave while in GS.... her collar WILL be honored ........ and to maintain the peaceful ties with all other sites, I would caution ANY Master of GS to think carefully before attempting to punish this girl without VERY good cause...... : So there it is......... A case study in just how a simple misunderstanding can get blown out of shape...... How one or two choices of action can cause a chain of events that could end in tragedy..... An example of why it is so important to choose your words carefully, because as it has been said before, “ Words can be weapons “ .... as sharp as daggers, and as deadly as a sword....... : I offer Myself as an intermediary in this matter, in hopes of finding an honorable way of bringing it to a close .... It is My hope also that this might be done without bloodshed......
