Reading both Rollos and Xerns comments I am struck with several
thoughts..*s* First I am curious if either of you or anyone has the answers to
these thoughts. Why do so many people seem to feel that being Gorean is all
about shouting commands at slaves and snapping off perfect serves? Why do
so many people log online, sit in a Gorean channel, and glower at each other,
and at every newcomer who comes through the door? It seems so robotic at
times..React and glower convincingly then spit out some Gorean aphorisms
while sipping endless bowls of perfectly served paga while the perfect Gorean
slave girl kneels, cowers and looks adoringly at the Master. It is not a jaded
attitude that prompts these questions, rather it is curiosity at what is so
enjoyable about an endless stream of sameness. You know someone said to
me why can't we make light of Gorean Philosophy and I wanted to do what I
hear a she-urt describe often..I wanted to whomp that person. I said to the
fellow.. Certainly we can make light of it but we must remember to keep it in
context. When telling the joke or poking fun at a Gorean concept ect don't say
things like.."why did the chicken cross the road?" You would say why did the
vulo cross the road. Goreans have fun, and are often very entertaining people
and it takes wit, intelligence and nerve to be Gorean in the first place.. There is,
in every philosophy and culture, a time and a place for seriousness, and a time
and a place for absurdity, and humor and fun.The Philosophy of Gor is built on
a genuine love of vibrant life and vibrant nature. Surely it is appropriate to set
aside at times life's unpleasant aspects and dwell on the lighter aspects of being
Gorean. There is a balance that needs to be struck. I wonder if there is a right
or wrong way to accomplish that or if it can be done...*wry smile* As you
Xern point out so well it must be tried even if it is unpleasant at times and one
has to deal with the more unsavory aspects of the Gorean "way" *s*

Is there a Gorean word for a guy who walks like he has a board up his ass?
There should be. I see them all the time and myself manage occasionally to
walk funny as well. It is fortunate that there are men like you Rollo and you
Xern out there to aim a swift kick and remind us that along with the right to
spout off about philosophy ect comes a responsibility to promote Gor and to
stand up and fight against the tide that seems so overwhelming at times. Both of
you fight...both of you in your separate ways stand and shout against the
darkness. You might toss a tospit across the room just to see it splatter or you
might pause and in thoughtful contemplation try as best you can to answer a
serious inquiry about Gor..always knowing that to that person asking it is
crucial to answer in a manner that is correct but you must also role model the
answer as well.. Not an easy thing to do I've found. *s*

I suspect as well that we all have found ourselves unaccountably and against
our will drawn into the snide mutterings, complaints, and ridiculous personal
agendas which come into existence in an online-only medium such as on-line
Gor. At times even we are drawn into such internecine by people who's only
agenda is the fragmentation of the Gorean "way". In any case as I note this
grows lengthy yet again know that this former warrior now scribe if that is what
I am, am indebted to you and knows it. You Xern for guidance and
enlightenment along the convoluted road of knowledge and for your patience
mentor of mine and you Rollo for showing me unbridled courage exists still, that
honor is still sacred, that adversarial doesn't always mean enemy and for your
sharing of your life view. I wish all well........Ruilan

Frost says:

"...That made me hear the wakening birds around,
And hear his long scythe whispering to the ground,

And feel a spirit kindred to my own;
So that henceforth I worked no more alone;

But glad with him, I worked as with his aid,
And weary, sought at noon with him the shade;

And dreaming, as it were, held brotherly speech
With one whose thought I had not hoped to reach.

`Men work together,' I told him from the heart,
`Whether they work together or apart.'"
