Greetings Masters, Greetings Mistresses, Greetings sisters,This one has been thinking a lot lately, been on the verge of snapping numerous times, and now has a few questions that she really cannot find the answers to. ja would like to know your thoughts, of both free and slave, to help her understand and come to terms with this anger and frustration inside. ja cannot seem to let this question go, it just continues to grate on her mind and nerves. Why is it so difficult for people who stumble into Gorean Shores to give even an inch of respect? ja is now thinking about all the people who have no clue what so ever as to what Gor is and what Gor means to most of us. So many times lately when ja’s been in, someone has stumbled in. Recently there was a “Master” demanding a drink, and when ja kindly answered him that she was currently in the service of another, his reply was that Masters came before Mistresses and that he wanted his drink NOW. Ok, as a slave, ja can see the logic in that, although she was taught that all free deserve equal respect, whether they be male or female. However, he also went on to tell her that in IRELAND (yes, you read it right) slaves do not question Masters. ja again tried being kind, trying to inform him that he was not in Ireland but in a Gorean tavern in the city of Port Kar on the planet of Gor, and also helpfully pointed out the link to the GS homepage before resuming her conversation with the Mistress. He proceeded to ask her how the hell she dared speak back to a POWERFUL CELTIC WARRIOR, and kept this on until he finally grew tired and left. Now the question ja has is, how do you deal with something like this? Yes, naturally you can ignore it, but when someone comes in and basically ignores everything you say, keeps on with his lil game, totally disrespecting everything and anything, you grow tired, and the level of snapping rapidly nears. Not to mention the fact that it’s very annoying when they continue posting in caps and difficult to just close your eyes to, to say the least. ja may be only a slave, but you know, Gor is still very dear to her. This one holds the values high and close, her slavery is not a joke to her, but very real, and it really truly hurts when people ridicule what makes her happy. Then just yesterday, someone came into GS as a vampire. ja got more and more frustrated and finally broke down and started crying. (Thank you again, vika, for being there and just being you). Why is it that people cannot give an ounce of respect? This one’s not saying you have to believe 100% in the Gorean philosophy, not all do, some like to just act the part while they’re in a Gorean chat room. But is it so difficult to “play by the rules”? To act according to protocol, to respect at least the beliefs of others even if they’re not your own. You wouldn’t catch ja going into a site dedicated to vampirism, or whatever else and try to be a Gorean slave, even though she is so at heart. Nor would you catch her in a Moslem country wearing a mini skirt and a top showing off her midriff. And even the simple thing of ja not believing in God, you still do not find her mocking Christianity. There is a Swedish saying that ja is very fond of, in a free translation it would be the following; “Follow the custom of the place you are in”. And isn’t it really the proper thing to do? Or is ja completely off her rocker with this assumption? This one really doesn’t know how to handle this. Yes, she knows she must always be found pleasing as she is a slave, but how can she? As soon as one of the above-mentioned kinds enters she automatically sees red. It is so hard to keep her mouth shut at times. Maybe ja is just a rotten slave. She really doesn’t know. This one doesn’t want to take a break either, for once you have Gor in your mind and in your heart, you become addicted. It becomes seemingly impossible to stay away. So please, if you have any advice at all, tell ja, she begs you. Maybe she should just shut her mouth and smile sweetly as slaves are supposed to be pleasing at all times, but when it comes to this issue, ja finds herself utterly unable to. It involves after all, something that she loves, and that is very important to her. And to be honest, she finds it increasingly difficult to not just tell these people to just simply take a hike (actually, ja would like to use a *much* more colorful expression, but she'll keep that to herself). This one needs helpful advice, that's for sure. She hopes she has been able to express her thoughts in some manner that might make some sense. ja thanks you for taking time to read the rambling thoughts of a mere slave and hopes she has not been found displeasing. Respectfully and desperately submitted, ja`dain Property of Moonglow, Free Woman of Port Kar, Advisor to the Council of Captains, Slave Mistress of Gorean Shores.
