: : To some people, it has become so common to read and except every crack-pot idea, or theory that comes along, that I truly wonder just how jaded we as a society have become.?? So, when I came to read the article accusing those that participate in the on-line activity of * Gorean * chat rooms, or that feel that many of the ideals put forth in these FICTIONAL adventure books are valid and desirous, are really only covering up a clandestine * Nazi * doctrine, I had to stop, and wonder just why any thinking person, or journalistic organisation would be linked with such biased and misrepresentative clap trap ????? : This article founds its base on choosing one or two points of a philosophy, then goes on to make blanket statements about the entire philosophy or belief..... One of the biased, self perpetuating innuendos made, is to say that because one Gorean chat site with a name of * Silk & Steel * Which just by chance happens to be run by a Gorean that the article has targeted as one of these * on-line Nazis * uses it’s abbreviation of * S&S * . Does the person that wrote this piece know so little of on-line chats that they are not aware that ALL on-line chats tend to use MANY abbreviation in an attempt to cut down on typing and time. What ominous sexist, racist, or political misconceptions can the author try to put on many of the abbreviations used in every day chat ??? LOL.... BRB.....LMAO... AFK...... WEG..... ????? How can it be that ANY sane or reasonable person not see that the * S&S * used by these people is nothing more than a quick way of naming these home or chat room ???? To imply that the letters are in some way a reference to the * SS * of the Third Reich, or German Nazism, only goes to show that the author started out with a preconceived notion and an axe to grind and would stoop to any level to try and sway the thoughts of the readers... : It is also an interesting point that this author chooses to assume that ALL Goreans agree with, or follow, Marcus of Ar’s written philosophy..... How many of those that call themselves Gorean must admit that one of the main reasons for so many different rooms or sites is simply because they can’t agree on many of the points of * What IS true Gorean * ??? Should I draw the parallel with the many differing sects of the major religions ???? ALL of which are just positive that *their * form or style is the * true * belief..... Be it Christian, Hebrew, Islam, or what have you, when religions that have been around for 2000 years plus, can’t seem to agree within their own ranks on just what is the *true or proper * way to follow or practice their beliefs, how then can any reasonable person expect a few scattered internet chat rooms or sites to join ranks, and all march to the exact same drummer ??? LOL.. No, it is easier, and more inflammatory to imply that all of on-line Gor is some festering National Socialist, Neo Nazi, Racist hidden society ..... Instead of the groups of people that come together to meet, talk, and yes role play in this Gorean environment..... : Is it any surprise than, that the author of this article chooses to ignore so many other points of the basic * Gorean philosophy * ???? I mean in today’s world, where every one and every thing can be bought and sold ..... from politicians to clergymen.. ...??? Why would anyone want to hear about a system that uphold personal Honor as a mainstay of society ???? Or Truth ??? Or Honesty ??? Or Taking Responsibility for One’s Own Actions ??? In a world that seems to drifting further and further from the ideals of Family and /or Community..... Loyalty .... Duty to Country.....And Personal Honor.... Is it any wonder that some of those that still feel these are ideas or values to keep and hold dear, would be drawn to interact with others of a like mind ????? On Gor, traitors are dealt with in a swift manner that they deserve... they are not elected to high posts in Government.... On Gor, there are no Paedophilia, for if any were found they would be destroyed as befits their depraved ilk ......... No Homosexuals, because the roles of the two sexes are clearly defined..... any that would stray from this natural path would be like wise removed..... : The author of this article chooses to ignore the fact that most of the references to a * genetic superiority * are made in reference to the male/female relationship...... While this concept may not be in line with the current idea of * equal rights *.... and * political correctness * it IS in line with history and the natural order....... Man, for all of his advances in science and technology is still only an animal..... with all of the basic drives, and desires of an animal...... Throughout the history of the world, it has only been the last few decades...perhaps as long as a century .... that human societies have NOT followed the natural order of male domination .... That the strong, or winners of conflicts or wars have NOT enslaved the vanquished...... That women have NOT been chattel..... While this defined role of the sexes... this dominant male/ submissive female role MAY have also been a part of the National Socialist ideology, the same could be said about the major religions yet again.... Would the author be willing to call them all * Nazis * as well ???? : Labelling others with highly emotional or libellous titles or names just because you don’t think the way they do is wrong. !!! Calling those that don’t believe the same as you do...... or don’t act the same as you do.... or don’t think as you do..... or don’t even pray to the same God as you do..... names that are intended to incite hate or revulsion, does not show that you are a clear thinker or have an insight that others don’t have...... It only shows that you are closed minded, and bigoted yourself...... Why the author of the article in question chose to single out a few on-line role players , instead of spending their time dealing with REAL Socialists or Fascists or Nazis, is to me a question that should be addressed in itself...... Can we of the internet now look forward to the kinds of * witch hunts * of the McCarthy era ???? Will special interest groups be * taking names * and * keeping tabs * on those of us that enter Gorean chat sites ???? Can we expect in the future to be confronted by such questions as “ Are You now, or have You ever been a Gorean “ ???? : I would have to admit that I am often confronted by many people or groups that have ideas, beliefs, or opinions that differ greatly from my own..... And I may have a hard time understanding or accepting their beliefs at times...... But as long as they do not attempt to force or coerce myself or others into following their lead, I feel that they still have the right to believe as they wish and follow their own conscience..... It seems that perhaps the author of this * Gorean Nazism * article thinks differently.... that only those that agree with their ideas or thoughts should be allowed to voice them.??..... That freedom of speech or thought depends if you agree with the way * they * think ??..... As a child, I was taught that such freedoms were not only the rights of all, but rights worth defending..... That certain freedoms that had cost the lives of many to win, and maintain, were things to be held dear and treasured...... But I was also taught that to hope to have those freedoms for myself, I had to be willing to allow others the same freedoms...... I was also taught that when it comes to the freedom of speech that there is a marked distinction between * Free Speech * and * Cheap Talk *....... : Rollo~the~Ax
